Tyres & Suitability
Yes, AlloyGators can be used on run-flat tyres. Fitting our product to run-flat tyres does require heavier force and we always recommend visiting one of our trained fitters for a supply and fit service.
AlloyGators do not need to be removed to change a tyre. Due to its design, once fitted the AlloyGator acts like an extension to the rim of the wheel, this means during the machine process of a tyre change the tyre can be removed as normal.
If your tyre fitter removes the AlloyGators, they can be easily refitted providing they haven’t sustained any significant damage and all old glue residue is removed in order that the join can be effectively re-joined. We do not recommend re-fitting damaged profiles.
AlloyGators provide superior protection against kerb damage and can be fitted to Machine Polished/Diamond Cut alloy wheels, however we would draw your attention to the following considerations when purchasing our product.
Polished/Diamond Cut wheels have a lacquered surface. It is not always possible to identify existing lacquer damage.
If there is existing minute lacquer damage to the wheel surface, and AlloyGators are fitted, this may increase the risk of moisture retention which could accelerate further degradation of the lacquer.
If you are purchasing our product and arranging the fitting yourself, you accept that AlloyGator Limited has advised of the suitability for fitting the product.
Fitting AlloyGators to MachinePolished/Diamond Cut wheels will not cause damage on their own and will dramatically reduce the risk of significant damage through kerbing, scratching or denting the lacquered surface in the event of impact.
Alloygator Limited do not recommend fitting AlloyGator wheel protectors to vehicles weighing over 2500kg. This includes vehicles weighting less than 2500kg, but carrying luggage or passenger weight that causes the overall vehicle weight to exceed 2500kg.
Vehicles weighing over 2500kg put increased pressure on the wheel and tyre, and could cause the Alloygator profile to move over time.
If you are unsure about the weight of your vehicle or would like some fitting advice, use our Find a Fitter search to locate an official, trained AlloyGator fitter in your local area.
Our fitters are trained by us and can provide you with advice about the suitability of your vehicle, and your wheel and tyre combination.
AlloyGator Limited accepts no liability for AlloyGator movement or any damage caused by an AlloyGator profile fitted to a vehicle that weighs in excess of 2500kg.
Yes, some wheel and tyre combinations do suit our product better than others.
Every set of AlloyGators includes a suitability gauge which should be used to determine suitability prior to attempting to fit the product.
If you are unsure, please visit one of our trained fitters for advice.
If fitted correctly, AlloyGators will not affect the inflation of the tyre. We recommend checking your tyre pressures one hour after fitting to ensure correct fitting and at regular intervals as recommended in your operating manual.
